With this Specialty Alloy Conditioning application our Weiler 25” x 3” x 12” Hot Press Wheel helped increase G-Ratio, improve material removal rate and boost their total cost savings.

CHALLENGE:

The customer was in need of significant productivity improvement to avoid purchasing a new grinder to meet production demands. This new grinder would have cost the customer nearly $2 million and was equipment that had not been budgeted for. 

SOLUTION: 

Weiler developed new hot press grinding wheel specification utilizing a proprietary bond system in combination with high performance abrasive grain technology. In order to ensure accurate test results, the Weiler Industrial Grinding team spent (2) full weeks at the customer supporting this testing around the clock. After the test, Weiler had collected 192 hours of grinding data. This data was used in conjunction with the Weiler Process Solutions tools to create an economic business analysis that resulted in a $700,000 overall process savings.
