Turbine Blade Case Study

Weiler 4" Burr-Rx Shell Mill Disc Brushes

In this Aerospace deburring application, we are focusing on removal of a very heavy Class 4 burr on the end of the fir-tree root on a very large aerospace turbine blade.

In order to get maximum burr removal in this application, we are utilizing Weiler’s Burr Rx technology which is the industry standard for speed and efficiency in deburring applications.

The material of this turbine blade is a proprietary nickel and cobalt-based composite alloy. The brush used in this application was a 4 inch 80-grit Burr Rx filament running at 3,200 SFPM, traverse rate of 44 inches per min, and a 0.100 inch depth of interference.
